The History
The pottery shards used in this particular item were found in the fields of West Lothian and was shaped into the two shards, one oval and one round. The oval depicts the top of the trees from the classic Chinese plate design from the 1900’s Blue Willow, which is set on an ancient Chinese story of love and loss, you can read more here about the history of Blue Willow Pottery on our History Page. The circle depicts a small flower, which cannot be sourced to a particular pottery style or type. The estimate age of this pieces is around ~1930 when Blue Willow Pottery was popular amongst the local community, and was being created by local pottery houses throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.
